Can you help in this endeavor?
There are many ways to volunteer and help make this charitable project successful.
* Artists. Many, many artists are needed to paint the scenes. Artists please read the "Artist" page.
* Soliciting artists. Volunteers are needed to help identify and solicit artists. If you know a good artist what could help, please email us their contact information. We can solicit them directly, usually an email followed by a phone call. Or you can point them to this website. We currently are looking through children picture books at libraries to find painters and illustrators whose work is compatible.
* Quote suggestions. Do you know a good quote or saying that should be "painted." Please email it to us, include a suggested scene if you have one. When possible we are using "journalistic liberty" to rephrase some quotes into positive affirmations.
For example this quote:
"Don't ask God to guide your footsteps if you're not willing to move your feet,"
will be restated as
"Ask God to guide your footsteps—and then move your feet."
* Logo design. We need an uplifting, artistic and simple logo for WisdomScenes. If you would like, please submit a suggested one. Ideally we will get many to choose from. For the one chosen, we will put a writeup of the artist on the "Contributing Artists" page. Hopefully this will be provide useful promotion for the artists work. Picking a logo probably is months away, depending on submissions.
* Help in filing for non-profit status. If anyone has experience in setting up a non-profit from a legal and tax perspective, we could use your advice and help. We'd rather not use a proxy since they charge a percentage of any donations.
* Website design and maintenance. Currently we are just using Google's Blogger for this website with a redirect from www.WisdomScenes.com. For now that is all we are prepared to do since standalone websites need constant maintenance to prevent hacking. Longer term we would like our own website but will need to wait until we have funding or a volunteer that will design and maintain the site. Also we will use a service like FineArtAmerica initially to sell the posters. Long term we'll contract directly, at more favorable terms, with a service to produce and distribute the posters.
* Funds. Any donations will be greatly appreciated. Currently we are not an incorporated non-profit, but soon.
* Grant writing. Once a small portfolio is assembled, we could use experienced grant proposal writers to help solicit funds.
* Networking with other organizations. We would like to get endorsements from other organizations which can help us network with parents and artists. We will have an endorsement page to list and link to any organization that supports this. The support doesn't need to be financial, we would though like the opportunity to network with other groups members via email to help identify artists and also to let parents know about the availability of posters. Even if you are not a member of an organization, please email us with suggestions on any we should contact.
* General. General organizational tasks will come up, we need volunteers on call to help with emerging opportunities.
